Born in South Africa, trained as a dancer and self-taught in costume making, Amanda has worked freelance across three continents on wide ranging commissions.
London based for over twenty five years, her central London studio specialises in dance related projects, the portfolio includes work as diverse as costumes for body builders, circus performers, West End musicals, Cabarets, The Royal Ballet, television and commercial advertising projects.
Amanda has an in depth understanding of the properties of stretch fabrics and how their use can contribute to enhancing the look and effect a choreographer and/or designer wishes to achieve in a piece. Her previous dance training allows her to understand how a costume should 'feel' and what it needs to 'do' on the body. Two years working in Paris gave her an education in style and an eye for a sophisticated fit.
All of the above experience and passion ensures efficient delivery of the 'right' costume on-time with minimal re-work.
